Hit rating is the most important stat for ret paladin as it affects everything, Melee attacks, specials, judgement, seals, everything. This means this is your first stat to get to cap. Your cap in Wrath of the Lich King is 8% hit for bosses, 5% for mobs at your level.

The best Paladin specs to play PvP in WotLK classic are Retribution and Holy.

Crusader Strike, your general stat priority will be:

At level 80, 26.232 hit rating is equivalent to 1% hit. At level 80, the highest level mob currently present is level 83 (e.g. all WotLK raid bosses), so a level 80 caster has an effective spell hit rating cap of 446. That assumes no other spell hit sources.

Holy Nimbus makes the Devotion paladin a shining beacon of hope, dealing radiant damage to enemies, and an advantage on saving throws against fiends and undead. Devotion paladins are an excellent balance of offense and defense, and one of the strongest subclasses available in DnD.

Normally a Retribution Paladin will use a 2H Sword with high DPS, while a Holy Paladin will use a 1H Sword with caster stats, paired with an off-hand or shield.

It's better to stack devotion aura even with a prot pala in the group because of aura mastery. Additionally, aura mastery for Retribution Aura ("increase the duration of Avenging Wrath by 50%") means you get a 12-sec AW when someone dies.

Haste Rating

Stat is a great stat for Retribution Paladins, as a big chunk of our damage comes from our auto attacks and seals, both of which benefit from having a faster attack speed.

You must hit the 8% hit rating cap to ensure that your abilities do not miss, but it is also heavily recommended that you also hit the 17% hit rating cap, which makes it so that your Poisons cannot miss either.

Hit Rating

Retribution Paladins require 8% (referred to as the “soft cap”) increased hit chance in order to never miss with melee attacks, and 17% (referred to as the “hard cap”) increased hit chance in order to never miss with spells.

Critical Strike

As a player obtains more hit and expertise rating, the cap number increases, but it may never exceed 71%, as there will always be a 24% chance of a glancing blow, and a 5% chance of a crit supression. [1] Special attacks may not produce glancing blows, and will as such have an even higher crit cap.

The hit cap versus level 83 (boss) enemies is 8% this means that Hunters need 263 Hit Rating in order to reach the hit cap — but there are ways to reduce that.
