I tried a new protein pancake recipe today! had some apples laying around so decided to make use of them. Also was feeling a little carby, so I wanted to use oatmeal. I searched around on the internet for a while and came across this recipe from a bodybuilding forum. They came out delish, so I am sharing it with you guys!

Mix the following ingredients in a bowl until it makes pancake batter-like consistency:

– 1/4 cup oatmeal

– 1 whole egg

– 3-4 egg whites

– 1 scoop Vanilla protein powder (about 6 tablespoons in 30g of powder)

– half a chopped apple

– a dash of cinnamon

Pour the mixture into a fry pan and cook on medium until one side is lightly browned.
Flip it over until the other side is done.

This was great! They stuck together very nicely and I didn’t need to blend anything. Had them later in the day too, cold, but what a fab snack. For those of you asking what you can sub protein powder with, the answer is, if you want to keep the nutritional value the same, I can’t help you there! You can try all kinds of protein powders – like whey, hemp, pea, brown rice etc. but for the recipe you need to use a protein powder.

So basically if you don’t have protein powder, you need a different recipe! This is one I did a year ago. High Protein Yogurt Oatcakes. Recipe here.

I watched alittlebit of the FOOD Bites video and gotkindasad. I started to miss Boston and that apartment. It brought me back to the times when I was teaching 12 Pilates classes a week to help pay for rent and utilities. It brought back the sound of the T screeching every time it passed by my street level apartment. I miss it’s hardwood floors and gorgeous windows. Ugh. And how I could walk everywhere. I miss my students too. At Boston Sports Club, Commonwealth Sports Club, Cambridge Athletic Center, VIM Fitness Spa, Tufts, Equinox…you guys all helped shape me as the instructor you see today.

Life definitely changed for me on the East Coast. It was my first corporate “real” job out of college (and my first experience quitting a job!) and also where I think the blog and YouTube really started to grow. When I quit, I had so much more time on my hands that I could film stuff, edit stuff, write, cook, teach! I also had time to grow oGorgeous. I had time to pay attention to my Pilates craft as a teacher and I learned how to be better. Better at connecting with people and training them hard.

Now that I am back in CA, I am working at a handful of clubs again. I really really LOVE all of my students everywhere I go…it is SO HARD leaving. Even leaving for vacation. I hate it. You guys make me smile and you MOTIVATE ME to give you more. I don’t know how to say it or how to express in writing…but I just want you to know you mean a lot to me. My YouTube students, my real life students. You’re helping me live out my passion.

I feel like this could be a whole ‘nother post! Or even a vlog. It’d be so sappy though! Oh! And I start teaching at ClubSport Fremont on Monday! POP Pilates at 5:30PM!! I am really excited to start a new class. But I think I need to stop accepting new classes or else I won’t have time for myself anymore! Boston classes were great, but just TOO MUCH sometimes! Any group exercise instructors out there feel the same way? (Especially the full time instructors?) At a certain point, the classes start to feel like work and I never ever ever want to feel that way. I think my cap is 6 classes a week.

OH! Another thing. Sorry.

So…it must be awards season or something…because after the whole Shorty’s thing, now FITNESS Mag has the 2012 FitteratiBest Healthy Living Blog nomination going on. If you guys like reading my blog or doing the workouts, please let FITNESS know! It’s not really about getting an award, but about letting more people know about our community and everything we do here. Every time I make a video or post a recipe, I want more people looking for healthy living tips to find us! Sometimes I do random google searches like “fitness blogger” or “best healthy recipes” and I end up on weird websites trying to sell me stuff. It’s not easy to find a website where you keep coming back because you totally resonate with the blogger and the community!

I would love you to have your vote 🙂 You don’t need a Twitter or anything to participate, so it is much simpler than last time. Just click on the image below. Or click here.
